There's a lot going on in this view, which is one of my favorites from the Fair. Take a look at the group of soldiers trying to decide where to head first. Should they go visit the RCA Pavilion across the plaza and see themselves on color television, fortify themselves with a quick bite at the balloon-topped Brass Rail snack bar, buy an Official Guide Book, or ride off on a guided tour? This view is from 1964, as seen by the Greyhound Escorters that were only in use for the first season.
I've long been fascinated by World's Fairs. I've been lucky enough to have attended several myself and have been collecting photos from them for years. I've even written books on some of them, as listed on my site www.worldsfairphotos.com.

Gotham Plaza at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair
Guests entering the Fair through the main entrance, serviced by the Long Island Rail Road and subway, would pass through the ticket booths and turnstiles down a ramp into this area known as Gotham Plaza.
