Guess who came to dinner?

Here's a shot of former president Herbert Hoover at a formal dinner at the Belgium Pavilion during the 1939-40 New York World's Fair. If anyone can identify the man in the tux with him please let me know. He reminds me of someone, but who?

  1. Hi Bill!

I just wanted to write in and tell you that I'm loving your blog! I had read up over and over on the GE Pavilion... collected a ton of audio of the Carousel of Progress... and yet, the Skydome Spectacular and "Man-Made-Sun" that I've heard the hostess mention after the show were all mysteries to me. I had no idea that the show continued to rotate to reveal the ramp to the second floor.... just too cool!

And seeing the halls that lead to the show... I don't know... it's just incredibly fascinating the art that they used to decorate the walls and all that. I guess the modern day equivalent would be after exiting the elevator in the Haunted Mansion. It was even interesting to see the GE Hostess next to appliances, which is similar to what they have before entering "Innovations" in the Disneyland Carousel building today!

Anyway, I couldn't help but to notice on those posts that you have zero comments, and I wanted to write in and tell you that all your work is appreciated! Keep it up!
